What do you define as a "good" song?

There is no right answer to this, just subjectivity.

So, for me and me alone:

a song that is:
  • simple
  • clear
  • emotion barely restrained
  • restrained
  • courageous in some way
  • "Saudade"
  • not longer than it needs to be
  • not shorter than it needs to be
  • fascinating structurally
  • memorable lyrics
  • sincere in some way (i.e. sincerely foolish, sincerely honest, etc.)
  • smart lyrics
  • lyrics that are not cute or trite
  • an elevation of the mundane
  • not more complex than they need to be
  • original in some way
  • surprises (unexpected meaning, music change, lyrics, etc.)

I think these qualities describe many famous songs.
